Well, so far the membership here has been resoundingly silent. Sounds like we're all waiting for someone else to make the first move. *g*

So, in the interest of drawing some of our very talented artists out into the open, I'd like to get your feedback on the possibility of running monthly or bi-monthly challenges. Would anyone here be interested in participating in a challenge? There would probably not be a competition involved--not yet anyway, we don't have enough members--but it might be fun to throw the challenges out there for those who're interested to answer and the rest of us to ooh and ah over. :-) (Yes, sol_se, I am shamelessly stealing this idea from you; hope you don't mind! ;-) )

If the answer is "yes, challenges please," what kind of challenges would you all be interested in? Topical ones (your favorite character, favorite 'ship, favorite episode, favorite science experiment, etc. or I pick a character, 'ship, episode, whatever and everyone vids for the same subject) or would you rather I upload a song and everyone makes whatever video that song inspires? Or something entirely different from either of those options?

Thoughts? :-)

Hi, yes, steal away!

I like all three of these ideas, actually. If I'm understanding correctly, they're breaking down into 3 concepts.

1. Vague "Thing" or category: Single Character Vid Challenge, Pairing Vids, etc.
2. We all vid about the same "Thing": Stark Challenge, Jo Challenge, etc.
3. Same Song Challenge. (Kawoosh had a similar challenge a while ago, and it turned out to be a lot of fun to see what different things people would come up with for the same music.)

I like all of these ideas, really. You could alternate between challenge concepts?

Ooh, alternating. It's like having my pie and eating it too, cool! :-D

Should we do a regular pattern--vague, specific, song, vague, specific, song--or just pick randomly, you think?

Hmm, a pattern could be interesting. Of course, if you're struck with a brilliant idea, you can always break the pattern, seeing as you're master of the universe comm.

Like sol_se, I actually really like all of these challenge ideas. Although I couldn't exactly commit to participating, because I'm still trying to figure out how to work the vidding programs...

Yeah, me too. I gave up on WMM, but I have a new program, I just haven't played with it yet!

You'll be sure to post your first Eureka video here, of course, when you do figure it out. ;-)

Of course :D

Promise I'm for real...
...I just have no time to use it and that's why I don't have an LJ account. BUT, I do have an idea for you guys. The song "You Get What You Give," by New Radicals. I heard it on PBS, liked it, downloaded it, listened to it 46 times (I kid you not), and decided about halfway through the listening spree that it fit Eureka perfectly. Then I remembered hearing that there was a Eureka vid community looking for challenges. So, this is mine to you:

"You Get What You Give" by New Radicals
scientific achievement of some sort
Fargo (any way you choose)

The following gets you bonus points:

Nathan in a POSITIVE light

To prove I'm real (and if you've got questions), my email is (remove the underscores) anaya_raine@ya_hoo.com, and I occasionally review as MedliR and post as DrHannahM on a few forums out there.
